Daylight Savings!

Post Date:10/23/2025 3:18 PM

Time change = battery check time!

When you change your clocks, don’t forget to change your smoke & CO alarm batteries too!

These little lifesavers only work if the batteries do. And in a fire, every second counts—so take just a few minutes to check and swap those batteries.

Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years and CO alarms every 8 years. Not sure how old yours are? Need help? Brooklyn Center Fire has your back! We’ll come to your home, check your alarms and even hook you up if you don’t have any.

Helpful hint! Hear a single chirp every 30 seconds, usually at 2 a.m. when you're deep in dreamland? That’s probably your smoke or CO alarm begging for a new battery—not a reason to call 911. Brooklyn Center Fire is happy to help with battery changes—just call us in the morning!

But remember: If your alarm is going off continuously, get out and call 911 right away.
