Turkey fryers:
Turkey fryer safety reminder from Brooklyn Center Fire
Deep-fried turkeys may be delicious, but they come with serious fire risks. Brooklyn Center Fire wants to keep you safe this holiday season—please remember:
- Never use a turkey fryer indoors, on a deck, or in a garage— always fry outdoors on a flat, non-combustible surface
- Completely thaw and dry your turkey before frying. Ice or water mixed with hot oil can cause dangerous flare-ups
- Never leave the fryer unattended
- Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and NEVER use water to put out a grease fire
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions closely
Let’s keep the holidays safe and fire-free. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
