Brooklyn Center Welcomes Senate Committee Tour to the Opportunity Site
The City of Brooklyn Center recently hosted members of the Senate Capital Investment Committee for a tour of the Opportunity Site at 5900 Shingle Creek Parkway.
The visit was part of the committee’s 2026 statewide bonding tour, where legislators review projects under consideration for state funding. Brooklyn Center has requested $3 million in bonding funds to support public infrastructure improvements within Phase 1 of the Opportunity Site.
If approved, this funding would help build the foundational public infrastructure—such as streets, utilities, and parkway connections—needed to prepare the site for future redevelopment. These investments would create the groundwork for new business opportunities, housing options, and community amenities that align with the City’s long-term vision for a vibrant and connected downtown.
