City of Brooklyn Center Reiterates Public Safety Role and Shares Know Your Rights Resources
The City of Brooklyn Center is aware of ongoing regional conversations about immigration activity. As we shared at the beginning of the year, our commitment to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community has not changed. We are reiterating the same information we have communicated consistently.
The City is restating the following long standing facts.
BCPD does not enforce civil immigration laws and does not participate in federal immigration raids or deportation efforts.
Civil immigration enforcement is the responsibility of the federal government. BCPD focuses on local public safety and on maintaining trust with all residents.
To help residents stay informed, Brooklyn Center is sharing regional Know Your Rights resources created by the City of Minneapolis and partner agencies. These materials are general in nature and available in multiple languages.
Brooklyn Center remains committed to ensuring that all residents feel safe seeking help and accessing services without fear.
