Commander Tony Gruenig has been serving the Brooklyn Center community since 2002.
Throughout his law enforcement career, Tony has served as a patrol officer, Northwest Metro Drug Task Force (NWMDTF) officer, Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) officer, field training officer (FTO), SWAT member and assistant team leader, and sergeant. While serving the Brooklyn Center community as a police commander, Tony has filled the role of public information officer (PIO), and supervised the patrol, community services and investigations divisions; SWAT team commander; public information officer (PIO) and acting/interim police chief.
Commander Gruenig holds a bachelor's in sociology with a minor in criminal justice from South Dakota State University.
