Project Updates

The City of Brooklyn Center is preparing for the reconstruction of the Orchard Lane North area, which extends from Unity Avenue to Perry Avenue and from Interstate 694 to 65th Avenue. The project area includes approximately 9,230 linear feet of local streets, 188 low-density residential properties, and Orchard Lane Park.

The project is intended to extend the life of neighborhood streets, replace aging infrastructure where needed, and improve overall roadway and utility conditions in the area. The project currently includes:

• Full-depth pavement replacement on local streets within the project area.
• Replacement of approximately 50 percent of the curb and gutter.
• Replacement of approximately 20 percent of the sidewalk.
• Replacement of approximately 50 percent of driveway aprons.
• Replacement of remaining older watermain pipes, valves, and hydrants as necessary.
• Sanitary sewer improvements, including lining of existing clay pipe and replacement of castings where needed.
• Storm sewer improvements, including replacement of older storm sewer and storm laterals as needed.
• Traffic control, construction staging, drainage, erosion control, turf restoration, and related improvements.
